What do you tell yourself about money? How did your mom and dad relate to it? How about your ancestors?

So many of our beliefs around money and our relationship with it are impacted by our lineage.

We all have an ancestral blueprint around money: things we believe because that’s what our family has always believed or experienced.

Growing up we may hear things like:

• “It’s not polite to talk about money.”

• “I’m tired of living paycheck to paycheck."

• “It’s irresponsible to spend more money than you earn.”

But it’s not always so overt.

If your parents & previous generations associated working hard with money, if they complained about lack or treated money or the rich with disdain, chances are it’s not easy for you to be prosperous.

Most of us have family loyalty running in the background. This means that on some level, we feel uncomfortable when we have it better than the people who came before us.

If the people that we came from struggled with money, it makes it hard for us to let money flow in our life. It just feels wrong.

Or if we get money, we may feel responsible for giving it to everybody else, which doesn’t feel good either.
